We let the actual energy data do the talking. Here is what happened after we installed a Ruud 18 SEER2 high-efficiency system in March 2026.
We talk a lot about SEER ratings and energy efficiency. But nothing makes the case better than real numbers from a real home. This is that story.
In early 2026, a homeowner in DeLand reached out to us. Energy bills had been climbing for years. February 2026 was the final straw - the old system pulled nearly 3,400 kWh that month, working overtime just to keep up. After a full assessment, we recommended a Ruud 18 SEER2 high-efficiency system .
Ruud is one of the most reliable names in the HVAC industry - built tough, backed by strong warranties, and engineered for Florida's demanding year-round cooling climate.

What is SEER2? SEER2 is the updated federal efficiency standard introduced in 2023. It measures how much cooling your system delivers per unit of electricity consumed. An 18 SEER2 system is roughly 40% more efficient than the 10-13 SEER systems common in older Florida homes.
Our crew completed the full installation in March 2026 - right before Florida's heat season. New air handler, new outdoor condenser, new refrigerant lines, a proper load calculation, and a full commissioning to verify peak efficiency. Then we waited for the data.

The chart shows the full picture. Usage climbed through summer 2025 as the old system struggled, spiked to nearly 3,400 kWh in February 2026, then dropped sharply the moment the new Ruud came online. April 2026 - the first full month on the new system - came in at 909 kWh , down from 1,177 kWh the prior April. A 268 kWh reduction, 23% less electricity , for the exact same home.
Duke Energy Rebates: Duke Energy Florida currently offers rebates for qualifying high-efficiency HVAC systems. Ask us about current programs when you call - they can meaningfully reduce the upfront cost.
A 23% reduction in electricity use in the first full month. A total April bill under $152. A system that will keep this DeLand family comfortable for the next 15 or more years while paying for itself through energy savings.
If your system is aging, struggling to keep up, or your energy bills keep climbing, it may be time to talk. We will come out, assess your system honestly, and tell you exactly what we think - whether that is a repair, a tune-up, or a new system. No pressure. No upsell. Just honest advice from your neighbors in Central Florida.
