We love hearing from our customers - but sometimes the fix is something you can do yourself in 60 seconds. Running through this checklist first can save you a service call fee, or at minimum helps our technicians arrive knowing exactly where to look.

The 5-Minute Checklist

1. Check Your Thermostat

Make sure it's set to 'Cool,' the temperature is set below the current room temperature, and the fan is set to 'Auto' rather than 'On.' Accidental setting changes are surprisingly common - especially after power outages.

2. Check Your Circuit Breaker

Find your electrical panel and look for any tripped breakers. Reset them by switching fully off, then fully on. If a breaker trips again immediately, stop and call us - that indicates a real electrical problem.

3. Check Your Air Filter

A completely clogged filter can cause your system to freeze up or shut down entirely. Hold it up to light - if you can't see through it, replace it immediately. This alone resolves a surprising number of 'my AC stopped working' calls.

4. Check the Condensate Drain Pan

Look under your indoor air handler for a drain pan. If there's standing water in it, your drain line is clogged. Many systems have a float switch that shuts the AC off automatically when this happens - a safety feature that prevents water damage but also stops cooling.

5. Check the Outdoor Unit

Make sure the outdoor condenser unit is running - fan spinning, not covered or blocked. Also check that your disconnect switch near the outdoor unit hasn't been accidentally switched off.

Best Chance Tip: When you call us, describe what you're hearing, seeing, and feeling - not just 'it's not working.' Is it blowing warm air? Not turning on at all? Making a noise? This helps us arrive with the right parts.

Ran through the checklist and still not working? Call us - we'll get it sorted out fast.
